Spiritual Guidance, or Hashpa'ah, is the name I use for what is more commonly called Spiritual Direction. It is a process of helping people chart their soul's path, and use the blessings of spirit to enrich their lives and the lives of those they love. Spiritual Guidance is also helpful for improving relationships, for business, and for enhancing the work of tikkun olam, healing the world. For the past twenty years, this has been my calling, to help people come closer to the experience of G'd and holiness, and to help them through life's transitions and challenges by enriching their spiritual life and understandings. My Doctor of Ministry degree from New York Theological Seminary focused on helping me understand the spiritual path and how to support people on it. As Spiritual Director of The Academy for Jewish Religion for fifteen years, I had the privilege of designing programs for spiritual advancement for rabbinic and canorial students, as well as counseling these students on an individual and a group basis. While everyone can benefit from Spiritual Guidance, it is especially valuable for those with serious medical conditions, and their families, and for those going through difficult or transitional periods in their life. I find that many people have unresolved issues of anger and grief regarding family members (living or dead) and their Jewish upbringing, that can be greatly helped through working on the level of soul. Spiritual Guidance is not a substitute for psychological or medical support, but can greatly enhance the healing process. To discuss an appointment, email me at RebShohama@yahoo.com, or phone 646 250-5497. Consultations may be in person if you are in the NYC area, or on the phone. Home or hospital visits are sometimes possible. Once a relationship has been established, it is possible to continue by email.
